Privacy Policy

In force from 10 October 2026

Controller

socialfunnewzealand.com is an independent editorial site about hotels. Two editors decide what happens to the scraps of personal information mentioned below; reach them at hello@socialfunnewzealand.com.

Reading without being followed

No account, newsletter or login is needed to use the site. We do not run analytics software, session recording or audience measurement of any sort.

Messages you send

Any email landing in our inbox, typed from scratch or begun with the contact form, carries whatever you chose to put in it. We read it, reply to it, and put it to no further use.

Server housekeeping

Our web host can note an IP address, a browser name, a requested URL and a timestamp for every hit. Such entries help fend off abuse and trace faults; they are cycled out quickly and nobody here uses them to put names to visitors.

Browser storage

One local-storage entry records your answer to the panel about storage. Our Cookie Policy describes it fully.

What we refuse to do

  • Ad pixels, social buttons and outside trackers are absent.
  • Readers are never sorted into segments or judged by algorithms.
  • Your details are not for sale, hire or exchange, ever.

Outside providers

Typefaces are served by Google Fonts, which means Google receives your IP address as a page loads. Following our link to the hotel's website puts you under that company's privacy terms instead of ours.

Basis and storage period

Our lawful basis is legitimate interest in answering people who get in touch. Correspondence stays in the inbox while a conversation continues and is purged a year after it goes quiet at the latest.

Choices that stay in your hands

Privacy law in many places lets people see a copy of what is held on them, fix mistakes in it, have it wiped, pause or challenge how it is used, and take a grievance to a regulator. Email us with any such request; we answer inside whatever deadline your jurisdiction sets.

Children

Our audience is grown-ups, eighteen or older. Should a child write in, the email is wiped as soon as we realise, and we never set out to gather anything about minors.

Revisions

Any change to these practices will be published on this page with a new date at the top.
